light

the light of the world is upon us.

hope has come.

step into the light.

have you seen the star?

in the midst of your gift giving and gift receiving
may you experience the greatest gift to all.

do you see the star? look up more.

"After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh."

slient night

Silent.

Holy.

Calm.

Bright.

"So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. "

on a night like this

it wasn't a perfect night (by man's standards).
it wasn't meant to be...

"But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people."
Luke 2

out of darkness

4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. [John 1]

"out of darkness comes a great light."

and heaven and nature sing

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Luke 2

SNOW!

the snow fell down in mass. it didn't quit. i don't think i've ever seen anything like it! it all started friday morning around 10am... by late afternoon we had 6 or 7 inches... then we had a short break in the storm. but then... after midnight it snowed non stop until probably 7 pm Saturday. by the storms end we had 16 inches of snow in our front yard.

everything was canceled this weekend... including the Winter Jam retreat that was to have around 250 senior high youth attend. We've pushed it back to April 4- 6 (Spring Jam perhaps?)

we had a lot of fun playing in it yesterday and look forward to a nice time out in the snow this afternoon. enjoy the pictures!

seeing

this is a good picture we get a good sense of how these people live and though there is sadness in it and though it is hard to face, we must look at it because it is truth.

first snow

a thin separation between cold and warmth.

a pure, white blanket of silence; a gentle reminder to what peace feels like.

sensation forms as quickly as the icicle.

how will we proclaim the peace and purity that seeks to cover us all?

a beacon of hope for all to see. that is what this should be.

taking in the moment... so as to not soon forget.

Log Off

Jonny Baker blogged about this new program called Animoto... you can make your very own 30 second video with pictures and music. it does these funky transitions. it's fun... addicting... and free... you can make longer videos - but i think you may have to pay for them.

Below is one i threw together from some jpegs i found over at Howies.
