original title of Joseph Heller's classic Catch-22 was Catch-18.
album title of Moby's 2002 recording with, you guessed it, 18 tracks.
number of holes in a round of golf.

seconds before sunrise. the official title of the website for Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós.
verse in Matthew chapter 16 where Jesus refers to Simon as Peter, which means 'rock'. Simon, when asked 'who do you say that I am' responds to Jesus by saying “You are the Christ,b the Son of the living God.” Peter's confession showed the kind of boldness that Jesus knew was a necessary foundation for the church.
the chapter in John where Jesus gets arrested and is put on trial. During this time, Peter, the rock, the one who's confession led to a name change, denies knowing or being involved with the One, Jesus.
how often are we one way in certain situations and yet another way in other?
genuineness is what is expected.
From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. ~ Luke 12:48.
we have been given much. we have been entrusted with much. what are we doing with it? do we have a bold faith or are we hiding it or denying it... pulling it out when it's convenient?
thankfully, Peter learned from his denial. thankfully, Peter grew from that experience, was reinstated and would (in Acts 2) lead the church onward. but his lack of boldness almost led to his demise. for those brief moments of denial (three times on the night of Jesus' arrest - before morning came) Peter was anything but a rock... he was not living up to his name or his calling...
are you living up to your calling today? rise up. live it. Christ has a plan for you. claim it and live it today with boldness.
