(lent) 9

#9.

number of days Ferris Bueller was home from school sick. Mom: "9 times?" Principal Rooney: "9 times!" (video)

number of animals that make up a Chinese dragon.

number of innings in a baseball game.

number on the jersey of the 'splendid splinter' Ted Williams. one of the greatest hitters in major league baseball history. He hit .406 in 1941. no one has matched that average since.

number of Chelsea FC striker Fernando Torres, who was paid a record transfer fee of £50 million earlier this year. in the 2 and a half months since joining the Blues he has yet to score. His lore at Liverpool will be hard to match.

number of the Spiritual Gifts as written by the Apostle Paul (found in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10)
To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
number of the Fruits of the Spirit as written by the Apostle Paul (found in Galatians 5:22-23)
love
joy
peace
patience
kindness
goodness
trustfulness
gentleness
self-control

Against such things there is no law.

which one of these is your strongest? which one is your weakest?

God gives us many gifts. The Spirit is a fruit ripening within us. How are these gifts growing within us? How are you reaping what the Spirit is sowing?

let God work in you. take not how Jesus exemplified each of these fruits and gifts. how might we model that today?
